This is a gear review about the Best Sporks for Backpacking and Hiking 2024.
When it comes to hiking cutlery you don’t really need a spoon, fork, or knife. All most people will ever need is a backpacking spork. It can do the job of all the hiking cutlery without the bulk or weight, well, maybe you might need a knife too.

Spork Comparison Table
Best Backpacking Spork 2024
The Best Backpacking Sporks in 2024 are:
Best Titanium Spork
Snow Peak Titanium Spork
Weight: 0.6 oz / 16 grams
Pros:
> Very lightweight
> Average length, but quite wide
> Has a hole to attach a small carabiner
> Available in a choice of colors
> Backed by a lifetime guarantee
Cons:
> Unfortunately, the color can fade
The Snow Peak Titanium spork comes from one of the top brands in the industry. The anodized titanium spork is known for being particularly lightweight. Titanium is also very strong, which means that it won’t break with the weight of other gear in your backpack.
The Snow Peak Titanium spork is a standard size for cutlery, measuring 6.5 inches long and a generous 1.6 inches wide. And it weighs a mere 0.6 ounces (which is about 16 grams) so it’s definitely not going to weigh your backpack down.
The Snow Peak Titanium spork is available in a choice of 4 different colors, namely silver, blue, green, and purple. This is good for those of you who like to go camping as a group because you can easily identify whose spork is whose.
It’s built to really last and comes backed by a lifetime guarantee.
Overall, the Snow Peak Spork is one of the best camping sporks on the market.
Best Camping Spork
Toaks Titanium Spork
Weight: 0.4 oz / 12.5 grams
Pros:
> Very lightweight at 0.4 ounces.
> Durable and built to really last.
> Has a hole to attach to a carabiner.
Cons:
> Although it’s very affordable for titanium, a plastic spork may be cheaper still.
The Toaks Titanium Spork is made with lightweight titanium, which does not rust and is sufficiently sturdy and durable to last a whole lifetime.
Its weight comes in at only 0.4 ounces, which is just 12.5 grams. So it definitely won’t weigh you down or get damaged in your backpack.
The Toaks Titanium Spork features a matte finish, so you don’t have to worry about the coating getting worn or fading, and you can get a good grip. And the spork end is polished to make it lovely and smooth when you eat with it.
The Toaks Titanium Spork is a new addition to my collection of sporks. I have used it on a couple of trips and so far it is equal to or better than the rest. It has the exact same cut and size as many sporks on the market. I have used this spork when making and eating many camping and backpacking meals. During that time it worked as promised.
It also happens to be one of the most affordable titanium sporks on our list.
Overall, the Toaks Titanium Spork is one of the best camping sporks for backpacking.
Best Long Handle Spork
Sea to Summit Alpha Long Spork
Weight: 0.4 oz / 12 grams
Pros:
> Very popular
> Very lightweight
> Extra long handle at 8.5 inches
> Comes with a carabiner (D-clip)
Cons:
> A little expensive for just one spork
> Not dishwasher safe
What’s different about the Sea to Summit Alpha Long spork, is that rather than being made from titanium, it’s made with ultra-lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum, which has been hard-anodized and features a smooth matte finish.
It’s durable, built to last, and conforms to FDA food safety standards. It weighs an ultralight 0.4 ounces, which is just 12 grams.
The Sea to Summit spork comes with an extra long handle, coming in at a long 8.5 inches. The advantage of having such a long handle on a spork is that it’s better for cooking and better for eating freeze-dried meals right out of the packets. The longer size may be perfect for eating directly out of dehydrated meal bags but the extra length can cause an issue for storage as it may not fit inside your backpacking cookware which is where most of us store our sporks.
Also, it even comes with its own carabiner ready for you to attach to your camping backpack but I can’t see anyone actually doing that.
Overall, the Sea to Summit Alpha Long spork is one of the best long-handle sporks on the market at the moment.
Best Budget Spork
Humangear GoBites Uno Spork
Weight: 0.5 oz / 14 grams
Pros:
> Lightweight
> Great choice of colors
> Very affordable
> Very popular
Cons:
> Plastic may break over time but it is stronger than any other plastic spork
In the last couple of years, the Humangear GoBites Uno Spork has become widely available and very popular. Because of this reason I bought one to try it out and found it to be quite a bit stronger than I expected.
The Humangear GoBites Uno Spork is made from a lightweight and long-lasting nylon material. It is quite strong and can withstand quite a bit of abuse, much more than any other plastic spork. The company states that the edge of the fork section can be used as a knife for cutting through soft food. During testing I found this to be a bit unreasonable, unless you are trying to cut mashed potatoes it doesn’t really cut through anything.
The Humangear GoBites Uno Spork comes in a huge amount of colors and there is sure to be one that suits your style and personality. The color choice is also good if you are in a large group and everyone has a different color.
Overall, the Humangear GoBites Uno Spork is one of the best budget sporks and the best plastic spork available in 2024.
Best Folding Spork
Toaks Folding Spork
Weight: 0.6 oz / 17 grams
Pros:
> Lightweight
> Compact folding spork
Cons:
> Not as easy to clean as some of the other sporks
The Toaks Folding Spork is the spork you get when you want something durable, lightweight, and compact.
The Toaks Folding Spork is made from lightweight and strong titanium and is one of the best titanium fold sporks. The downside of folding sporks is that they are not as easy to clean. This is not just something specific to the Toaks Folding Spork but to all folding sporks.
Overall, the Toaks Folding Spork is the best folding spork on the market in 2024. While it is the best compact spork there are better options out there.
Vargo Titanium Spork
Weight: 0.5 oz / 14 grams
Pros:
> Excellent customer ratings
> Very lightweight at 0.5 oz
> Made with durable titanium
> Backed by a lifetime warranty
> Two great color options
Cons:
> Some customers have said they wish the tines were longer, but that’s a common complaint made of sporks in general
If you’re looking for an inexpensive titanium spork that is of a regular size rather than one with a long handle, then the Vargo Titanium Spork is an excellent choice.
The Vargo Spork weighs less than most other titanium sporks at 0.5 ounces, which is about 14 grams. And it comes with a lifetime warranty.
It’s available in two great color options, namely blue and lavender, both with a really nice shiny finish. The lavender one looks nice.
Overall, the Vargo Titanium Spork is one of the best titanium sporks on the market at the moment.
Light My Fire Titanium Spork
Weight: 0.67 oz / 19 grams
Pros:
> Fork and Spoon on different ends
> It also doubles as a serrated knife
> Can be used for stirring cooking food
> Easy to clean & dishwasher safe
Cons:
> Doesn’t feature a hole for a D-clip
> Could be more lightweight
Not only does the Light My Fire Titanium Spork function as an excellent spoon and fork, with a spoon on one end and a fork with long tines on the other end, but one of the tines of the fork end is serrated, so you can even use it as a knife as well, although the knife is crap, better to use another knife.
The Light My Fire Titanium Spork is made in Sweden with genuine titanium, and as such it’s durable and built to really last. It’s naturally non-toxic and BPA-free and does not give off a metallic taste.
It’s heat resistant, so you can use it to stir food as it cooks, and it’s easy to clean to boot. It’s even safe enough to go in the dishwasher when you get back home.
It weighs a little more than most other titanium sporks, but when you consider that it’s a more effective spork than most other sporks, many people would argue that the extra weight is worth it. Besides, 0.67 oz / 19 grams is not that much anyway.
Overall, the Light My Fire Titanium Spork is one of the best spoon and fork sporks on the market at the moment.
Light My Fire Plastic Original
Weight: 0.3 oz / 9 grams
Pros:
> Affordable price tag
> Excellent customer ratings
> Heat resistant & dishwasher safe
> Very lightweight at 0.3 ounces
Cons:
> Not particularly effective as a knife
If you’re particularly budget conscious or if you have a lot of sporks to buy, then you could consider a plastic one such as the Light My Fire Plastic Spork.
This was my first ever spork and when hikers first think about getting a spork to try out, this is usually the best beginner spork. I still have one and use it today.
When I tried the Light My Fire Plastic Spork I was impressed but as happens with most of my gear it eventually broke after a long time of being used and abused and needed to be replaced. I was suitably impressed with the Light My Fire Plastic Spork, but like most people, I eventually upgraded from a plastic spork to a titanium spork.
It’s made with Tritan, which is BPA-free plastic and is far more heat resistant than its metal counterparts. And it’s dishwasher safe.
In addition to featuring a full-size spoon on one end, and a fork on the other, one of the tines on the fork has a serrated edge, so you can use it as a knife. But to be honest it is not a very good knife.
And because it’s plastic it’s particularly lightweight, coming in at a mere 0.3 ounces, which is just 9 grams.
Overall, the Light My Fire Plastic Spork is the best plastic spork on the market and a good spork for beginners who want to try one out without spending too much money.
Spork Material
There are several types of material that work well for sporks.
Titanium
Titanium sporks are lightweight and very strong. Although they cost a little bit more it is usually money well spent on an item that should last a lifetime.
Plastic
Plastic sporks are ultralight and reasonably priced. Plastic is the term used to describe Sporks that are made of nylon, polycarbonate, plastic and several other variants on the plastic theme.
Because they are so cheap they make a great option to buy as your first spork to give it a try and see if it is for you. My first ever spork was a plastic spork from Light My Fire. Although it broke a long time ago, I still have one that I use from time to time. And they are usually lighter than titanium, but not as strong. Unless you really do a good job at looking after them, you may break them a lot easier than any of the other materials.
Another great thing about plastic sporks is the choice of colors. It is very easy to get a spork that will stand out when you are in a group which is great to prevent people from being confused about who owns what spork.
Aluminum
Aircraft Aluminum Sporks or some form of Aluminum Alloy are not as common as plastic and titanium but they are lightweight, reasonably priced, and quite strong. But Titanium Sporks will be stronger in the long term and plastic will be cheaper.
Durability
Sporks are generally quite strong and should last a long time. The material will usually determine the durability of the spork. Titanium is the most durable material and plastic is the least durable material.
Length
The length of the spork will be determined by what you plan to eat. If you primarily eat freeze-dried meals out of the packaging then you will need a long-handled spork. If you use a short-handled spork while eating out of the packaging it will get a bit messy. For most other meals it is not so much of an issue.
Weight
With all the sporks in this review weighing quite a bit less than an ounce. Whether you prefer plastic or titanium they don’t weigh much and really there is no excuse not to have one in your mess kit.
Price
If you use any of these sporks long enough they will break, including titanium sporks. With many of the sporks only costing a couple of dollars they can be easily replaced when needed. Plastic will be much cheaper than aluminum which will be cheaper than titanium.
Conclusion
The Best Sporks for Camping in 2024 are:
