Accessibility Details For LEGOLAND California

Like all California theme parks, LEGOLAND fully complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). You can expect to easily navigate paths, bathrooms, and even ride and attraction queues.

The park goes beyond simple compliance, however. It also recognizes that not all disabilities are visible or physical and has created a program designed for those with special needs beyond mobility issues. Test

One example is LEGOLAND’s Assisted Access Pass, designed to help those with sensory difficulties or who could become overwhelmed while waiting in line to enjoy the park and its attractions. While the Assisted Access Pass is available to anyone, it is most commonly used and helpful for those traveling with a family member with autism or sensory concerns.

But there are other ways, summarized below.

Quick Overview of How LEGOLAND Has Your Needs Covered

Medication: Guests who have to bring refrigerated medication can conveniently store it at the park’s on-site First Aid department, where medics are also on hand to assist.

Certified Autism Center: The entire resort, including the hotels and water park, is a Certified Autism Center due to a partnership with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

Sensory Guide: Thanks to in-depth research and training, detailed and easy-to-read Sensory Guides are available to help you plan the best and most comfortable experience. You can also find them in the LEGOLAND app.

Sensory Room: There is a special Sensory Room inside the DUPLO® Family Care Center in Fun Town, where guests with sensory needs can escape the crowds and recharge in a calm atmosphere.

I definitely recommend reading the detailed guide on how each ride and attraction scores on a sensory chart so you can plan accordingly. You can print a copy before you go, and you should also be able to find one at Guest Services.

Assisted Access Pass

The Assisted Access Pass is designed to make the whole LEGOLAND California experience comfortable and fun for everyone, but specifically guests with physical and cognitive disabilities, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The pass’s main aim is to limit the amount of time spent standing and waiting in lines. You will be assigned ride times throughout the day, allowing guests to arrive at a ride at a specified time rather than waiting in the traditional line. The reduced waiting time is designed to help manage sensory overload for guests who need it.

The pass is valid for up to 6 people and can be picked up at Guest Services when you arrive. It is assigned at the discretion of LEGOLAND California Resort staff.

Note: The Assisted Access Pass is only valid for LEGOLAND California and doesn’t include special experiences, SEA LIFE Aquarium, or the Water Park.

Here’s how to get the pass:

  • Head to Guest Services to speak with a rep and collect your pass.
  • When you enter your first ride through a special entrance, you will be given a time for your second ride, which can be used for any ride.
  • You will be given time to go to your third ride at your second ride, and so on throughout the day.

Accessible Rides and Attractions

LEGOLAND California has ensured that many of its attractions are wheelchair accessible. At Guest Services, you can pick up a full guide detailing each ride’s accessibility features.

Due to manufacturers’ safety restrictions, wheelchairs are not allowed on any rides. Before booking your ticket, make sure this rule still allows you to enjoy the park.

Also, remember that while LEGOLAND staff can help with special access to rides where needed, they aren’t allowed to lift or transfer guests in or out of a ride vehicle. Someone from the guest’s party must be able to do this.

Health restrictions are posted at each ride, and every ride should be marked with signs detailing the type of accessibility, including whether a guest needs to be able to sit upright or if wheelchair access is provided directly to the ride.

If there is any confusion, always ask a staff member, or for more specialized help speak to someone at Guest Services.

Service Animals

Working service animals, as defined by the ADA, are welcome at LEGOLAND California and all related attractions. Service dogs must be officially working and performing a task for one party member. They must be controlled by the owner at all times, as staff aren’t allowed to look after them while guests are on rides.

There are service dog rest stations throughout the park, and while some areas stock pet gifts, you should pack a water bowl, food bowl, and treats as you would for any other destination.

Your service dog may accompany you to almost any park location. Since they cannot be safely restrained, service animals are not permitted on any rides. They are allowed to be present with the guest up until the loading point of the ride, after which someone in your party must take them.

Emotional support and therapy animals are not permitted in the park at this time. The park’s disabled guest policies can be found online.

Wheelchair and ECV Rentals

For guests needing mobility assistance, LEGOLAND California offers wheelchair and Electric Convenience Vehicle (ECV) rentals on a first-come, first-served basis. Surprisingly, no advance reservations can be made, which can be rather inconvenient.

The rental office is located near the park entrance, and a standard wheelchair currently costs $25 per day to rent.

Accessible Parking and Transportation

LEGOLAND California provides accessible parking spaces close to the park’s entrance for those with a valid disabled parking permit. If this area is full when you arrive, park where you can and take advantage of the shuttle services from the parking lot to the park entrance. The shuttles are equipped to transport wheelchairs.

Restrooms and Companion Care Facilities

Accessible restrooms are available at various spots throughout the park. These facilities are designed to accommodate wheelchairs and are big enough also to fit a caregiver if needed.

Dietary Accommodations

Dining options at LEGOLAND California cover various dietary needs, including gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free choices. Staff at the various eateries are trained to understand and handle special dietary requests, but always be clear about any allergies or needs and get a definite answer before purchasing.

ADA-Trained Staff

LEGOLAND California’s staff is trained in ADA compliance and guest assistance, including helping those with hearing impairments by ensuring that clear signage is posted at all rides and attractions. If you have any questions or concerns, I recommend calling the park’s Guest Services before your visit or simply going to their booth when you arrive.
