LEGOLAND California Resort is known for its abundance of fun seasonal activities, offering family-friendly experiences throughout the year, such as the theme park’s Halloween Brick-Or-Treat festivities.

Now that it’s December, you can get in the joyful spirit by visiting for Holidays at LEGOLAND. We saw some of the holiday cheer first-hand last weekend. Here’s a look at what you can expect over the next few weeks:

  • Fun Holiday Activities

  • Holiday Treats
  • Holiday Photo Spots
  • Toy Soldier Marching Band

Multiple Festive Shows

There are loads of shows to attend while you’re there, such as:

  • The Mint Marching Band, whose route begins at First Aid and goes through The Beginning and Imagination Zone.
  • Join Bagsy and Sweeps for Once Upon a Brickmas at the Castle Stage as they retell the enchanting tale of the Wizard and the first snow of Castle Hill.
  • Elf Training Academy at the Candy Cane Stage invites you to join a LEGO Elf for an interactive show where you’ll learn to build, sing, and move like an elf.
  • Holly Hype Dance Party is the new interactive holiday dance party where kids and parents can dance and celebrate together.
  • Join Benny’s Ugly Sweater Party, where Benny and his dance crew showcase their quirky holiday spirit in ugly Christmas sweaters, of course.

There are plenty of festive performances to appreciate, so make sure to check the calendar and app to get the most out of your time at LEGOLAND during the holiday season. Showtimes will vary based on when the park closes, so check the app for updated showtimes.

Meet Favorite Holiday LEGO Characters

We were able to meet LEGO Santa

Guests can take “elfies” with holiday LEGO characters, such as Reindeer Girl, LEGO Snowman, Toy Soldier, or T-Rex Costume Fan rocking his holiday sweater. There are also new elf characters, Ivy and Frode.

See if you can spot Gingerbread Guy at his house, accompanied by his elf bakers.

Order Delicious Holiday Treats

Hungry? Don’t miss out on the limited-time merry menu with offerings like a holiday version of the iconic Granny’s Apple Fries made with crispy apple fries, vanilla soft serve, chocolate sauce drizzle, graham cracker crumb topping, and toasted marshmallows.

There’s also the Sleighride Churro Sundae at the Churro Stand, Frosted Pineapple Breeze mocktail at Knight’s Smokehouse BBQ, and more tasty treats.

Holiday Activities and Holiday Photo Spots

While you’re at LEGOLAND, make sure to view the newly lit LEGO Christmas tree near the entrance. For some extra holiday magic, mail letters at the North Pole Postal Service and take a photo with LEGO Santa.

You can also check out the larger-than-life LEGO wreath and take a family photo there for memories that will last.

Build a LEGO Heart

LEGO pits await inside.

Spread holiday cheer at the Build to Give Workshop, which allows guests to build a LEGO heart. For each one built and shared on social media using the hashtag #BuildtoGive, LEGO will donate a LEGO set to children in need via their network of charities. This is the perfect opportunity to give back while having fun.

Santa’s Christmas Magic Fireworks

Come for the LEGOLAND California Christmas experience, but stay for the fireworks. Enjoy fireworks on December 14th and then every day from the 21st through the 30th at 6:45 pm.

The Famous Kids’ New Year’s Eve

There’s also a Kids’ New Year’s Eve on December 31st with family-friendly fireworks at 7 p.m.! My toddler really loved the fireworks, especially because they’re so close.

Stay Overnight at the Two LEGOLAND Hotels

For a family vacation filled with even more holiday fun, check in to the LEGOLAND Hotel or LEGOLAND Castle Hotel. Both LEGO-themed hotels offer fun rooms with bunk beds, some sleeping up to families of six.

They’re conveniently located within a few steps of the SEA LIFE Aquarium and LEGOLAND theme park entrances and offer early theme park access 30 minutes before the LEGOLAND park officially opens to the public.

Tips for Visiting Holidays at LEGOLAND

The LEGOLAND entrance and Welcome sign decorated for Christmas.

When my family arrived in the early afternoon, we were surprised by the fog. Bring layers or perhaps a hat because it can get cold.

My number one tip is to make sure to download the LEGOLAND app. This allows you to get the latest information at your fingertips, including vital information like park hours and temporary closures.

We were a little unprepared for some of the closures, and consulting the app beforehand would have helped set expectations.

Park hours will vary by the day; you don’t want to get there and find out they close at 4:30 p.m. or are randomly closed (like they were on December 11). There are some temporary ride and restaurant closures as well that the app can keep you apprised of.

The DUPLO® Little Dino Trail is great for little ones. My toddler loved driving the little car. But since it’s the closest ride to the entrance the lines may be longer than at other rides. Instead of spending precious time waiting in line straight away, check the app for live wait times.

And, don’t forget to stop into SEA LIFE Aquarium while you’re there.
