20 Amazing Places To Visit In September In The USA

With cooler weather, fewer crowds, and the early arrival of fall colors, this month is, in my view, an ideal time to explore the country. From cozy mountain retreats to trendy city breweries and vibrant farmers’ markets, I’ve spent a lot of time discovering the best spots. Here are my all-time favorite destinations to visit this month…

Acadia National Park in Maine

I’m always in awe of the Maine coast’s picturesque landscapes and diverse wildlife. The 47,000-acre Acadia National Park is an all-year-round destination, but I personally think it’s especially beautiful this month.

The temperatures are perfect for hiking and I love that there’s less crowds as its right after Labor Day and before the leaf-peeping season begins!

The park stretches across Mount Desert Island, and is home to the first rays of daylight that touch the United States for half the year, and I loved photographing the scenic sunrises here! I stopped at Hulls Cove Visitor Center to help plan my trip and then I tried hiking, biking (my favorite was the Carriage Road which led me around the entire park), wildlife-spotting, guided tours and overnight camping!

  • Visitors Center Address: 25 Visitor Center Rd, Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, ME 04609
  • Map Location
